Sharesight price update

Is anyone else having the same issue. I am based in the UK and primarily trading the FTSE INDEX. Sadly, the issue of Prices NOT updating has been an ongoing issue with Sharesight for YEARS on and off and I really don’t understand why they haven’t got to the bottom of it as it is really frustrating, especially as a paid service. In recent weeks the prices not updating has gotten to a new level where it just stopped updating mid way through a trading session. I am considering leaving share sight because of this as its a liability to my trading but surely I cannot be the only one experiencing this?

Well it’s 6:22pm on the 4th March and all Australian prices are stuck at 3:55pm. Yet again - and always in the first few days of the month - end of day prices on stocks are not available.
Clearly, if you need end of day prices downloaded, don’t do it using Sharesight. I’ve made so many postings on this but they just don’t care less and they don’t fix the problem. I guess that we’ll just have to look at alternative sources for closing prices and go back to our previous systems for handling our shares.

Only started using sharesight 6 weeks ago or so, and this is already a big issue for me. In a time of market volatility we need timely portfolio valuation. Incredibly poor form that this appears an ongoing issue and sharesight are unable, or unwilling to be open to the community on the cause and plans to resolve. I am also regretting my purchase and will be looking at alternative products.

Hi @pmoulinier I believe you are discussing this issue with Piumi at the moment. We are trying our best to get to the bottom of this. I was checking the price last Friday until 11pm (Sydney time) and Piumi did that until 2am on holdings you mentioned i.e BP and CBG. We didn’t notice any significant delay.

We have LSE intraday price since 2021. There isn’t any pricing issue as far as we know. Your first contact with support re this matter was last year. Of course all of these doesn’t change the fact that there is an unresolved issue. But just want to be clear.

We are working to have a better way to log and track this issue. What makes it hard is the system do not store intraday price so unless there is someone sitting there (which we are doing now) to look at the price every minute, you can’t figure out what happened the next day, what went wrong or why it went wrong.

Apologies for the experience.

Hi @hubble_xm I apologies for the issue are you able to reach out to support so we can look into it further. Thanks

And to clarify, if you have managed funds. It is normal if the price doesn’t get updated for a few days or weeks. We get fund prices from Morningstar, which is supplied by the fund manager. Fund manager has their own ‘agreement’ with Morningstar on the feed frequency. Some can be daily, fortnightly, monthly and so forth.

Hi @yellowdog I will have a look later if there is any delay on today’s closing price

Hi Ricky. As you’ll see from my previous posts most months, this is what happens. On the 2nd or 3rd or 4th of each month, we don’t get the 4:10 prices at all. Even at midnight, we still get the 3:55pm or 3:58pm prices. Then, the next morning, it reverts to the 4:10 prices for 2 days prior (not the previous evening). Then, around the time of the market open, it updates to the previous day’s 4:10pm prices so we can download them. You guys did a good job fixing the “few cents” price error on loading trades for larger orders. Now, it would be great if you could fix this monthly failure to update to the closing prices. Thanks… Mike
PS This only happens once per month - on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th of the month.

Thanks @yellowdog the closing price today seems fine. I’ll make a note to start checking the closing price for 02, 03, 04, Apr. That is the pattern you’re seeing right?

Yes Ricky - closing prices on 2nd, 3rd or 4th of month - checking that the 4:10pm prices are there by around 5pm.

This is exactly what I see. Take ILU for instance on ASX. I was seeing price pre open yesterday of 4.31, which was actually the price for the close on the day prior. The actual close was 4.13. There is clearly a problem occurring around that time of the month as yellowdog has indicated. Regrettably I did not take a screenshot, but I saw similar the month prior as well at around the same time. It is very frustrating

@yellowdog I will start checking the ASX closing price starting tomorrow until Friday just to see how it behave.

It’s 5:19pm on 2nd April - and - as usual in the first few days of the month, we’re not getting 4:10pm prices. Please tell us why it’s still giving us 3:56PM prices to download.

I’ve logged a support call on this and Gihan says “This matter has been addressed to the relevant team to check and will get back to you.”
Prices still as at 3:56 pm though the time is 10:49 pm. It would have been nice to download 4:10 pm prices and values and to update our database and general ledger before Trump’s liberation tonight.

I am seeing similar behaviour. All ASX listed closing prices showing as at close 1/4/25 when it should be 2/4/25. Will attach screenshot. For what it is worth I am located in a different timezone to the ASX, but this never seems to be an issue getting correct prices during ASX trading hours.

Thanks @hubble_xm for the info.

I was checking CBA price last night and this morning. The 2 Apr closing price didn’t update until this morning. But didn’t notice the price going back to 1 Apr closing. Based on your post time, this might happen early morning? I’ll focus on ILU and VAS tonight

Just to add I think I understanding what’s happening (thanks to Piumi). The price revert from 3.56pm to the prior day close because we ‘wipe’ out the intraday price everyday. Which means since we don’t get the 02 Apr closing price (not until 07.30am 03 Apr), the price went from 3.56pm 02 Apr intraday price to 4.10pm 01 Apr closing price.

Yes, Ricky, that’s what’s happening. Doesn’t update to 4:10 overnight, next morning it goes back to 2 days prior, then it goes to the correct previous day close price.
No need to monitor tonight as it won’t happen again till May - when it will go wrong on either the 2nd or the 3rd or the 4th of the month.
That’s what it’s been doing since at least last August.

Today’s 3rd Apr, it won’t go wrong? Oh you mean it only go wrong on one of the days

Yes, previous experience is that it only goes wrong once in the first few days of the month. So tonight and the next few days will be fine with no problems if it goes the same way as previous months. Next problem will be in the first few days of May.

Yes. Exactly what I see. Today is reporting as expected and it only appears to happen first few days of calendar month. To be clear I believe it happens across the board and not just VAS or ILU. These were just examples I picked at random. Could it be happening on the second business/trading day following a new month? That would explain why it sometimes occurs on the 2/3/4 calendar day (timezone dependent). So last month the first of the month was a weekend, perhaps that pushes back appearance of the issue to later in the calendar month than the current month, where the first was a trading day? Hopefully you are getting closer to tracking down.
