There seems to have been multiple requests over the years for this feature but no one seems to want to answer.
Can someone @sharesight actually tell us whether this requirement will be added or not and if so when?

Hi @HARDENT spot price for gold, silver, palladium, and platinum are in testing. I would say ‘very close’ to ready but can’t give a definitive date.
YAY!!!

Thanks @RickyYeo . In the meantime is there a suggested way to record a holding in physical prescious metals, othert than just a custom investment? Is there a workaround/code that gives a “close-enough” approach?
@mwse not that I know of unless it involve some sort of scrapping precious metals price from other website and update it in the custom investment via our API.
Can we get excited yet? Is there any news/timing on this feature addition?
@HARDENT @mwse You should be able to find precious metals now.
They can be added either in grams or troy oz.
Gold
Silver
Platinum
Palladium
Sweet!
Thank you.
Thanks @RickyYeo . Well done to all involved in getting this up!
(Suggestion - Would be great if I could use the ‘Move to a listed instrument’ functionality on my current gold holding - which is a custom instrument)
Hi all, pinning this post temporarily for visibility.
As Ricky mentioned, support for the main core Precious Metals types have now been added; our blog detailing this can be found here:
As always, let us know if you have any feedback or suggestions.
Thanks!
I have not been able to get this to work. In fact I managed to change my holding to XAM.ASX. Can I reverse this and then get instructions on how to do it properly?
Thanks, Richard
This is a great addition. I am curious, however, as to where you get your prices from. The range of metals offered looks very much like those offered by ABC Bullion in Sydney. Are you able to confirm your pricing source?
Cheers,
AB
If you click on add investment
then choose individually add trade
you should be able to type in XAUG or XPT in the company name or code field and the auto-populated list should narrow to the metal you want.
Hope that helps.
