Sold Shares Parcel Selection

,

Hi All. I have been an accumulator for a long while so this never came up but I have recently sold some shares. I have sold some holdings completley but have some holdings that I have kept some. I have used the CGT report on minimise CGT to determine which I sold. No issue here.

What I am confused about is if I sold say more next tax year and did minimise CGT how does sharesight know what parcels to select? It would seem I could possibly double count the same sold parcels the next year.

Let me know if I am looking at this incorrectly.

Would it not make sense to select the specific parcels you have sold so they dont get counted in the future?

I saw some old topics for htis but no resolution.

@Henchman the system will take into account your prior selection so this won’t create double counting. But to be on the safe side, in case you decid to change the allocation method (to something other than minimise CGT) in the future, it is good to lock the CGT report every FY so any method change in the future don’t override the allocation for all previous years.
