Hi, it is almost impossible to tell at a glance what our real returns on investment are.
What might look like a decent return may in fact be negative after tax and inflation are accounted for.
Inflation adjustment calculations are (or should be) trivial for Sharesight, based on published CPI data for any given base year.
Tax may be more complex, but at a pinch, the user could nominate ‘typical’ tax rates applying to dividends and capital gains/losses for each country they hold stocks in.
• Why do you want it? - to allow sensible comparisons with other investing options outside Sharesight or in relation to life goals.
• How is this affecting you? Right now, with the tools available, I cannot readily tell what my real-world portfolio performance is.
• Do you currently have a workaround solution? If yes, what is it?. No practical workaround. Would need to manually undertake CPI adjustment for all cashflow histories for all shares - just not going to happen.
• Can we reach out in future to ask follow up questions about this idea? Certainly
