I see that Hargreaves Lansdown is shown as a supported broker and templates are provided for importing transaction history. However, it doesn’t appear that HL allow you to download the transaction history for one’s complete portfolio in one go. Do you have to download the transaction history for each share and investment trust and then combine them into one spreadsheet to import into Sharesight or am I missing something?
@MikeGBP you can download all your transaction history (called transaction summary) in a single file. But you have to format that file because it doesn’t have a ticker code. Are you looking to import all trade history or just a portfolio summary?
Thank you for your reply. I am looking to import all trade history to give me accurate capital gains figures for my UK tax returns. I have now found that I can dowload my transaction history for a custom 12 month period as a .pdf or .csv file. Unfortunately, HL don’t provide the ticker codes or brokerage fees on these spreadsheets, so these need to be manually entered. Fund codes also need to have a GB00 prefix added to be correctly identified (nb the fund codes displayed on the HL portfolio summary pages are also missing their last character). I have also discovered that your AI importer translates prices that are shown in pence, as though they are in pounds, so the ‘unit cost’ column figures needs to divided by 100. I have also found it necessary to delete the ‘description’ column, as the AI picks up the unit cost from there as though it was in pounds. I am still experimenting but think that it might end up easiest just to import the contract notes for each transaction - although I have a lot of them! I think that it would be useful if there was some way of adding a note or check box on the consolidated portfolio sheet, so that one can record entries that one has checked (eg added correct brokerage fees) after the initial import, as I don’t really need to have them correct until I want to sell them. I hope that this is useful feedback for you and anyone else looking to import HL data.
Thanks for the feedback Mark appreciate that
- Pence/Pound - we are working on that. We see that happening to other UK brokers too.
- GB00 prefix - the HL has that right? I tried that and the AI importer seems to pick that and match it to .FundUK market correctly
- Description - Will look into that as well.
- Check box - that’s something worth considering. So strange why HL don’t include brokerage in their trade history.
Thanks Ricky for your immediate response. Glad that you appreciated my feedback.
HL don’t include the GB00 prefix in the ‘code’ column (if you have this column option selected) on their on screen, .pdf or download .csv ‘account summary’ and ‘transaction history’ only show a maximum of 7 characters (which may not be all of them). The full codes, with GB00 prefix, only appear to be shown on their contract notes.
