Motivated Money by Peter Thornhill. I found this to be a excellent book to provide a grounding and stratergy for long term investing verus shoty term trading.

Iām currently reading āThe Education of a Value Investorā by Guy Spier. Its not a how to book so much as its about mind set and behavior. Very fascinating.
Iām a late starter, Barefoot Investor audio book really got me interested in saving and investing. Not a lot of time for books but love podcasts and audio books while Iām driving, I have been enjoying Equity Mates and Aussie Firebug, on YouTube I like New money and Compounding everything
I like the English guy at PENSIONCRAFT. He is UK based, but investment fundamentals dont really have borders, and I find that he researches (in detail) many of the questions that I find are hard to answer. It provides the WHY, as Iām kinda into detail, and like to understand WHY I should (or should not) do something
Hey farming, great to see you here and doing ok. Lets get our champions firing.
Hey Eel , old mate , great to hear from you . I told Bungie I wasnāt well but am now on the mend again , in fact yesterday were last results and everything is ticking over nicely , so am ready for fighting "negative " forces I was planning to come back in July but my friends Barry and Dave told me that boards are bit quiet and that Iāll need lot of effort to restart it , so am still deciding . Hope you are well and yes Champions are still going great , just look at our ALL , RMD ,NDQ, MQG, APT, ATEC, CAR, JHX, NXT, WTC , XRO and few others but never forgetting the best ( proven and trusted , Joe him self) . CSL too is simmering atm just like FPH but still great businesses . I downsized ALU ,APX ,FPH and am trying to downsize RMD with trailing stop since $28 but it never goes down enough . I put trailing stop of 4% below ATH and itās still going . Nothing wrong with it just run bit too high , similar to ALL but in 5 years both will be cheap . Why reduce then ? Because they are just bit too big atm , no other reason. Best regards and hope your champions and Joe are doing great things for your PF , in fact I have no doubt the are
RMD now moved to $ 32.20 to reduce , if it gets there .
I started by reading the books by Mary Holm, a NZ financial journalist, which are very much towards buy and hold index investing but have solid advice on general retirement planning. I recommend her books to any person new to investing. I still read her Saturday NZ Herald column every week as it has great questions posed by ordinary NZers.
Since the Covid lockdown Iāve been watching CNBC which you can only get with a Sky TV subscription. In particular I like Squawk on the Street with Jim Cramer, David Faber and Carl Quintinilla. I record this overnight and watch it religiously when I get up. The first 10 minutes are usually a commentary on the US markets which drive the world markets, basically. I even set up a report label in Sharesight called āJim Cramerā which has all my stocks that Jim Cramer recommended that I acted on! Currently itās up 38%.
I also like businessdesk.co.nz subscription for NZ market commentary.
I regularly surf the facebook investment groups. I found out about FAANGs, a few years ago from hearing about it on the Kiwimustachians facebook group. You can also keep up with what the kids are doing investingwise on the Hatch facebook group.
Hi Eel old mate , I replied immediately but my post was last night flagged āoff- topicā so they informed me this morning . Yes , our champions are going great guns and like I said earlier I wasnāt well but yesterday last test confirmed all is good and Iām on the mend . P.S. I hope this gets to you
Hi farming, yes I saw your first reply. Great to hear you doing better mate.
Ive been topping up a few of our favs, CSL, ATEC, FPH and LH. Looking at bit more NDQ and MFG as well.
Yes the other community is very quiet now.
Great Eel , I donāt know why it was deleted , it was one of my ābetter onesā LOL I am waiting for MFG to confirm above $52 and Iāll add too . NDQ is bit too big but got even bigger last night
farming I have my top up price for MFG @ $49.71 and NDQ @ $30.10.
Eel , thatās great . For me I have enough MFG and NDQ and in fact just looking to trade more MFG so looking to buy ( an another account) above $52 which is 200 D line and have a stop loss below couple of % below that . Main account MFG I donāt play around with . NDQ I am looking to cut a bit as itās bit too big but will also add or trade should it come nearer to 200 D line of $28.30 . Looks like NDQ going down there is wishful thinking . Again I have enough of all champions so am just looking to trade some in another account with out disturbing Main Pf (retirement account) . Also adding to Joe but not these days , waiting for good pullback , which never seems to come
Farming - Yeah Joe is a hard to catch. I remember around $2.00 was good not that long ago. I guess that just show quality.
McEwen Investor Report, The Economist, a precursor to Hot Copper whose name i have forgotten, Mauldin Economics, The Market Oracle, Stock Gumshoe and various other online contributions.
Hi Eel , Sharesight just wrote to me saying my post has been restored , apparently someone from the ācommunityā flagged it as unacceptable . I have no ides who that might be

I started with Barefoot Investor and continued the long term investing journey from there.
Completely agree about Invested by Danielle and Phil Town. Relatedly, their Invested podcast is wonderfully entertaining as well as informative and educational.
