# Adding a custom Investment

Hello,  
I wonder if anyone has tips on how to add a Custom Investment. I have tried the help menu, and even asked the portfolio owner to change me to Admin rights in case it was a setting issue.

I don’t have the “Investment Code” and “Investment name” fields available. They are greyed out when I try and click on “Add a custom Investment”.

Hi Mel,  
If the portfolio from another Sharesight retail account is being shared with you, then you cannot create a custom investment in that case. Only the original owner of the portfolio (for retail users) can create/amend the custom investments.
